The Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Network Coordinator (part-time) Delhi Roundtable on Solid Waste Management to join our team.
About Delhi Roundtable
Delhi Roundtable on Solid Waste Management, a regional chapter within the Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers, is a network of researchers and organisations working with informal waste pickers in Delhi to support and strengthen their livelihoods. The network currently represents one lakh waste pickers engaged in different activities related to solid waste management in the NCT of Delhi.
Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers
The Alliance of Indian Wastepickers is a decade-old national coalition of organizations working with waste-pickers and other informal waste collectors. The alliance was created to have coordinated efforts to ensure the inclusion of waste pickers in various national-level programmes.
Role Description
The coordinator will manage the activities and events of DRT. Specifically, the coordinator willdevelop, implement, and monitor network activities to create awareness and mobilise action around waste pickers’ issues. The aim is to support the network’s mission to promote and protect waste pickers’ rights in Delhi.
Job Responsibilities
- Writing minutes and reports of DRT meetings, events and activities.
- Design, develop and organise various network activities, including but not limited to awareness workshops, conferences, meetings, outreach, and policy advocacy.
- Write and edit campaign materials, including press releases, flyers, social media content and other promotional materials, to increase the visibility of our work amongst various groups, including policymakers, waste pickers, RWAs, and media.
- Document the network efforts to generate knowledge products reflecting the ground realities.
- Represent the network at relevant events, conferences, and meetings.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with media outlets and other relevant agencies and organisations.
- Work in close coordination with member organisations.
- To coordinate between DRT and The Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers.
Qualifications required
- Post Graduate Degree in Social Sciences (Sociology, Social Work, Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies etc.)
- A broader understanding of waste management along with labour and gender issues.
- Good oral and written skills in English and Hindi.
- 2-3 years of work experience.
- Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Knowledge of MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint).
